November Meeting Nov 21

Rae is off on her adventure and I am doing the blog until her return.

So we are meeting Monday Nov 21 at 7:30 pm in Room 205 at Northern United Place.  Bring some painting supplies.

Here is the note from Jessica:

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to remind everyone about tomorrow's art lesson. I will be teaching about basic drawing (using watercolor of course!). This drawing session will include tonal studies - we will be composing very basic pictures and each of these pictures will have an overall tone, or an overall tone with highlights. You will have to come to our  very light to very dark. Please be sure to bring black or blue watercolour paint and some watercolour paper - no preference on the size.

Anyway I hope you all enjoy my little snippet

Come and Join us!

October Meeting

Meeting: Monday October 17Room 205, 7:30-9:00pm, Northern United Place

Know Your Papers!*
Lesson by Shawna and  Rae

If you're like me, you buy the cheapest watercolour paper on the shelf... Which can be good for playing around, but it lacks the gusto of quality watercolour paper, which allows for greater control, brighter colours and intensity of pigments. Lucky for us, Shawna buys the good stuff.

Shawna will be bringing a number of different samples of watercolour paper for us to experiment with, and Rae will lead you in playing with some cool techniques to achieve texture and layers of colour. See how your paint reacts differently on each paper.

* Please bring $5 to cover the cost of a number of different samples of paper :)

A reminder that our next evening class date will be on  Feb 21.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Jim Davies workshop in January - it was a big success! I think we all found the drawing exercises really helpful and it was great to see everyone's work up on the wall for the critiques. We are already putting in a proposal for funding another instructor later this year.

Here are some snapshots from the weekend:
